Patterns begin to evolve and become a rule of basic assumption; whether it is a new idea, one recently discovered or under development by a certain group as they learn to cope with internal integration and external adaptation problems. Cultural characteristics are hard to define because culture is multi-dimensional with integrated components that intertwine at different levels and ever-changing which takes time to establish and therefore time to change it also. Functions of a society need to be fulfilled with a certain amount of satisfaction or culture can impede the efficiency of that organization. Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 679 Downloads: 6 Date added: 2017/09/12 Category Advertising Essay Did you like this example? ? Jurassic Park Summary Report Jurassic Park, by Michael Crichton is a thrilling, science fiction novel. It tells the story about the cloning of dinosaurs, which are to be controlled in a theme park, however one man’s greed, drove the park into devastation and destruction. I consider the plot to be complex. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Jurassic Park Summary Report" essay for you Create order The novel is based upon a theme park featuring dinosaurs, which are created from prehistoric DNA. The novel begins with bizarre attacks from bird like creatures. John Hammond a wealthy, elderly man establishes this park. However, before the park is to be opened, Hammond invites three scientists to come visit the island to approve of it. They are Alan Grant a Paleontologist, Ellie Sattler a Poleobotanist, and Ian Malcolm a Mathematician. Hammond also invites his two eager grandchildren, Tim and Lex, to come explore the park. While they are visiting they separate into groups to take a tour of the park. They depart in electric-run land cruisers. While they are examining the surroundings around them Tim and Lex notice raptors leaving on a boat to go to the mainland. Meanwhile, a rival company is paying a disgruntled employee at the park, Dennis Nedry, a million and half-dollars to steal dinosaur embryos. After Nedry has followed through with the plans the security system is shut down leaving the electricity shut off. Grant and the rest of his company are now stranded in the park. Their land cruisers break down on the perimeter of the tyrannosaurus padlock. The group is terrified to find that the fences are not electrified and that the t-rex has escaped. The t-rex attacks the vehicle with the children in it and the remainder of the people are killed or manage to escape. Grant, Lex, and Tim are unfortunately now trapped in the park together. While hey are in the park they have to hide and run from many dangerous predators. Whilst trying to reach safety Grant observes eggshells. This causes him to anticipate that the dinosaurs in the park are breeding. Grant was told that this could not be possible considering the park had only female dinosaurs in it. Grant brings the eggshells with him to provide evidence that they are in fact breeding. Grant believes that when dinosaurs are all of the female gender and therefore don’t have any one to mate with, they are capable of randomly changing their sex. The people who survive their visit to Jurassic Park are taken off the island to safety. The park is destroyed and bombed by the military and Coast guard. However, since there are a dozen frozen embryos still in existence, the possibility still remains for more dinosaurs to be produced. The theme greed is distinctively revealed in â€Å"Jurassic Park. † I strongly agree with the message that Michael Crichton is trying to portray. The message itself shows that the motivation of greed does not guarantee success in life. John Hammond the owner of Jurassic Park demonstrates an excellent example of greed. Hammond’s greed was motivated by his desire for wealth. This ultimately led to nor only his own desire, but many other lives were ruined and the reality of the park was destroyed. The plot was very intense; it had many events that were suspenseful though forceful. I enjoyed the plot, in general I considered it to be clear, exciting, and reasonably interesting. I thought Michael Crichton overall did a superior job on the plot. The events I found were well structured, and generally simple to follow. I considered the plot to be believable and as I read I found myself questioning whether the cloning of dinosaurs could actually take place. I wondered if scientists had actually tried to take prehistoric DNA from mosquitoes and try to recreate prehistoric creatures. I imagine that Michael Crichton had to put a lot of consideration into creating the plot so it would make the novel become alive. I thought the novel was exhilarating and most amusing to read. I believe that â€Å"Jurassic Park† was extremely well written. I would absolutely recommend this novel to anyone.

Confronting Inequality by Paul Krugman free essay sample

In his article Confronting Inequality Paul Krugman is asserting the fact of high socioeconomic inequality in the United States, while demonstrating its consequences and the variety of statistic evidences upon it. He is depicting modern American society where we have a huge gap between economic elite and lower-and middle-income classes. There is a time for a Great Moderation reforms that will bring a socioeconomic equality. I agree, that economical inequality brings the social inequality, where as a result, we would have a society of unequal opportunities. And this situation directly influence the future of the children, their chances to succeed in their lives and careers. We can clearly see that children with high status are more likely to finish the college. The statistic that we are presented in the article states income inequality results in that class-inherited class usually trumps talent: smart kids from lower-class families lose when in a competition with kids from rich families. We will write a custom essay sample on Confronting Inequality by Paul Krugman or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page And to be honest, I don`t need its statistic results to witness this inequality myself.Even though my evidence comes from years in Russian school, i think my experience is relevant, the social inequality is same everywhere. I was attending the college there and we had RDK (rich dumb kids) too who have a much less stressful entrance into the college, due to their parent income. And school years were eased up for them also, because the money they got could buy them good final exams result. While other kids, who were talented but much less rich had to study hard to get the same results. That is not the beginning of good friendship between the kids, that will later become high and middle classes members and will carry this inequality even further. We can see how middle class families are desperate to give the children good education and while the desirable school districts shrink in numbers and become more expensive, these families are doomed to get in debt spending on housing much more than they can realistically afford. Than we can turn to health care system that can benefit from the reformation of taxing of top earners, who constitute 0,1 percent ofAmericans, while receiving more than 7 percent of income. The trick is that the economic inequality comes with a particular political climate, where large sums that hedge funds contribute to political campaigns, corrupt our politics and influence their decisions. As we can see from the statistic the hedge fund tax loopholes costs the government more that $6 billion a year, what is enough to provide health care for three millions children. The arithmetic of the equalization demonstrates that tax-cut rollback can pay for implement of universal health care, but the necessary reforms must go through the government.Universal health care is one of the key aspects of being truly middle class society. The U. S. are compared with other countries and we can see the we have top U. S. tax rates are low compared with those in Europe. And consequently, we see that the inequality strains the bonds within the society itself, people less trust the government or each other. While social trust is crucial in having a stable political situation in the country: very high executive pay used to provoke public scrutiny, congressional hearings, and even presidential interventions. So it comes a turn of the inequality of market income. I agree, that the first step was already made by rising the minimum wage, but it`s no enough. We should pick up the slack of our union policy, what experience the drastic decline. I do a small knowledge of it, while being a student, but I can see how my parents are being directly influenced by their unions. The unions have an ability to raise the wages of the members and equalize them too. They also mobilize its members to be more aware of the progressive policies and vote for them, vote for their own rights. And if people start being more active in defending themselves the government will have to find a compromise. There is no such a things that a economic matter that stands by itself, isolated from other social aspects. The economic well-being is not just affecting but conditioning our lives from their very beginning (child care). There was always a promise that you can raise a family and have a comfortable live if you work hard. The majority still believes in people get rewarded for their effort. And we need to build our economy around this statement, instead of some big interests of a few. It will be the foundation of a true middle-class based society.
